Arrive in Ulleri by late afternoon and enjoy the peaceful mountain setting.

Flight: 25 mins | Drive: 1.5–2 hrs | Trek: 5 hrs | Distance: ~9 km (5.6 miles)

Ghorepani, once a rest stop for horse traders, is now a popular village among trekkers. It offers a mix of warm Magar hospitality and stunning mountain scenery. Today begins with an early morning hike to Poon Hill (3,210m / 10,531ft) for a stunning sunrise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. After enjoying the view, return to your teahouse in Ghorepani, finish packing, and have breakfast.
Then, start your 7-hour trek to Chuile (2,310m / 7,579ft), covering around 13 km (8 miles). The trail includes a steep descent through rhododendron forests, some flat and rolling sections, and occasional short climbs. Lunch is served along the way at a local teahouse.
This route is part of the historic Annapurna trail, once used by traders and now favored for its natural beauty and cultural charm.
Overnight: Teahouse in Chuile
Trek: 7 hrs | Distance: ~13 km (8 miles)
Today you’ll trek from Chuile to Upper Sinuwa (2,460m / 8,070ft), a journey of about 12 km (7.5 miles) taking 6–7 hours. The trail descends to the Kimrong Khola, crosses a suspension bridge, and climbs through Gurjung village to reach Chhomrong, a traditional Gurung village with historical ties to old trade routes.
After lunch in Chhomrong, descend to the Chhomrong Khola, cross another bridge, and make a final uphill push through forest to Upper Sinuwa. The trail offers a mix of forest, village life, and mountain views throughout.

Go slowly and carefully due to the high altitude and changing trail conditions. Follow your guide's safety instructions, especially while crossing areas near glacier sections and avalanche zones. Along the way, enjoy panoramic views of Annapurna I, South, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre, and take time to explore the sanctuary area once you reach base camp.

The Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek is a popular Himalayan trekking route in central Nepal that takes you into the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary. It offers breathtaking views of Annapurna I (8,091m), Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and other peaks, along with a mix of cultural experiences in traditional Gurung and Magar villages.
The trek typically takes 10 to 11 days, depending on the itinerary and pace. Some itineraries also include Ghorepani and Poon Hill at the beginning for a longer and more scenic route.
It’s considered a moderate trek, suitable for anyone with basic fitness. Trails involve a mix of stone steps, forest paths, and gradual climbs, with manageable daily distances and teahouse stops.
The best seasons are spring (February to May) and autumn (September to December). These periods offer clear skies, stable weather, and excellent mountain views. Rhododendron forests bloom beautifully in spring.
The maximum altitude reached during the Annapurna Base Camp Trek is 4,130 meters or 13,549 feet. This altitude is reached at the Annapurna Base Camp, which is the ultimate destination of the trek. However, it's important to note that the trek involves significant altitude gain and loss throughout, and hikers will spend several days above 3,000 meters or 9,800 feet. It's important to acclimatize properly and take necessary precautions to prevent altitude sickness.
Yes, you need two permits:

Cash: There are no ATMs on the trail, so withdraw enough Nepali rupees in small denominations while in Kathmandu or Pokhara.

Personal Expenses: Budget for snacks, drinks, Wi-Fi, charging, laundry, and souvenirs during the trek. These are not included in the package.
Logistics & Extras: If you’d like help with domestic flights, hotel stays, activities like paragliding or guided tours, we can arrange them for you at an additional cost.

I had an amazing experience trekking to Gosaikunda Lake with Actual Adventure. Kedar responded quickly, and everything was well-organized from the start. The Kathmandu stay was luxurious, and the food was great. My guide, Pasang, was helpful and friendly, always finding the best lodges. Trekking during Janaipurnima was special, with beautiful forests, lakes, and friendly pilgrims. Highly recommend this company for a memorable trek!

I travelled with Prem to Everest Base Camp and cannot recommend him and his team enough. He’s a kind, thoughtful and motivational guide, knowledgeable about the mountains and culture. The team of sherpa’s and guides were incredible and wanted to make our experience there the best possible. The whole experience, the views, the hiking and tea houses (an experience in themselves!) can’t even be put into words. If I can give two pieces of advice..Go outside after dark and see the stars and take a hot water bottle with you! I was quite unwell when out there, but Prem supported me through it and monitored the safety of me progressing; I felt in safe hands. I know it takes a lot of planning for a trip like this, but it was seamless...I’ll be going back to Nepal to do Annapurna one day and will 100% book through Sole Encounters.

AustraliaGreat guide and Great company!!

One member of my small group struggled with altitude, so our guide turned back with her and her father at Manang. Luckily, Sole Encounters was guiding a private group in parallel, and I was able to join them. This flexibility was just one example of how the guides ensured everyone had the best chance to complete the trek. When bad weather and a flight issue delayed us from flying out of Jomsom, they arranged an extra night there at no additional cost and adjusted our hotel in Kathmandu. I highly recommend this operator for their experienced and accommodating guides.

Malappuram, IndiaAnnapoorna Base Camp & Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek – A Journey to Remember
10th June, 2025
I recently completed the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) and Ghorepani Poon Hill trek, and it was nothing short of breathtaking. From lush rhododendron forests to snow-covered Himalayan peaks, every day felt like walking through a postcard. Highlights: Ghorepani Poon Hill Sunrise 🌅: The early morning climb to Poon Hill was well worth the effort. Watching the first rays hit Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Machapuchare is a moment I’ll never forget. Cultural Experience 🏡: Passing through charming villages like Ghandruk and Chhomrong gave me a glimpse of Gurung hospitality, traditions, and daily life. ABC (Annapurna Base Camp) 🏔️: Reaching the base of Annapurna I was a surreal experience. Being surrounded 360° by massive Himalayan peaks is something that’s hard to describe—just pure awe. Trail & Scenery 🌿: Waterfalls, terraced fields, dense forests, hot springs at Jhinu Danda—this trek had everything. Trek Tips: Good fitness helps, especially for long days and steep climbs. Always carry a rain jacket and warm layers—weather changes quickly in the mountains. Travel with a guide or local porter for safety and cultural insights. Whether you're a first-time trekker or an experienced hiker, this combination of ABC and Poon Hill offers both adventure and peace. Highly recommended for anyone looking to connect with nature and Nepal’s incredible mountain culture! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)
